BDSMonday!

It’s BDSMonday!
Seeing as it’s the day before April Fool’s Day, I thought I’d do something a bit silly: an episode of South Park, Tsst* “When Cartman’s mom realizes she can’t control her son anymore, she gets help from the “Dog Whisperer.” But Eric Cartman’s not going down without a fight.”
Random? Yes. Funny? Also yes. The last time I watched this episode I couldn’t stop laughing because I kept imagining this in a BDSM context (which is kind of wrong, but still funny). Enjoy!
*If, like me, you’re Canadian, that link won’t work for you. You can watch the episode here, but there may be pop-ups, just to warn you. I can’t testify to the quality of the American link…because I can’t see it.

Tune in tomorrow as I start the A-Z Challenge!

It’s BDSMonday!

Today’s thought is sort of related to one of the first BDSMondays I ever posted, the one about tops needing safewords, too.

I’ve noticed that it’s usually portrayed, and I’ve seen, that tops are the ones pushing limits and wanting to go further, with the bottoms being reluctant or more cautious.

Well, ladies and gentlemen, I’m here to tell you—it does happen the other way around! I’ve seen it! Why, just the other night, my Sir and I were doing some knife play. We used to do quite intense knife play, stopped for a few years because our living situation sucked and we didn’t really do any play whatsoever. We recently started knife play again, and while I was very much gung-ho and immediately wanting to return to the advanced level we had left off at, my Sir needs time to work back up to that and make sure he’s comfortable.

TL;DR: Not only are tops (Doms, Masters, etc.) allowed safewords, they are also allowed to have and express limits.

It’s BDSMonday!

Today’s question is about finding time to play. It can be hard to squeeze in between eating, sleeping, work (I have no idea how those of you with kids do it!)

What are some quick, easy kinky things you like to do when you don’t have much time or energy?

My Sir usually ends up biting and/or spanking me if our batteries are running low. Teeth and hands are always, well, handy! We don’t always have a full scene. It might just be a quick little giggly fun. I know that I, for one, tend to get a bit squirrely if I don’t play for a long time! Sometimes I’m not even sure why I’m feeling weird or down, and then I play and go ohhhhhhhh. Right.

Paid by the Weird: So... Vampires.

Paid by the Weird: So... Vampires.: Blood Sight  came out today. Well, technically, it came out late last night, but by the time I got the email, I was already in bed and...

It’s the last BDSMonday of the year!

So it only seems appropriate to ask: what was your best (and, if you feel like it, worst) kinky memory of 2013?

I think my best would actually be quite recent, when I played with two tops :D

It’s BDSMonday! (wow, only one more until next year!)

Today’s question: what is the best scene you’ve ever played or read about?

(I keep asking BDSMonday questions that make me think about the answer, too.)

I guess mine would be…any time I get past the first wave of percussion play, and I get in the zone where I can take a lot more and it feels like I could go forever.

It’s BDSMonday!

Today’s question:

What are some of your favourite things to use for sensory play?
Some of my favourites are:
- pennies: if you put them on someone who’s blindfolded, the pennies feel like drops of water
- wax: after spanking, it feels like acid! Wonderful, wonderful acid :)
- ice: it has so many uses, but a really neat one is to put an ice cube in a cupping…cup…and the person being cupped can’t feel the ice until the cup comes off. It’s weird!

It’s BDSMonday!

Today’s question: have you ever made your own toys?

I’ve made a flogger and a cane during workshops, and I’ve painted a few paddles. I also helped dismantle/improve several pieces of bondage furniture, though I’ve never actually built any myself.

You'll Wear a Different Chain

I just used the word 'counterpoint' and now I have this stuck in my head. (I may have used it intentionally. Shhh!)

I don't know if any of you know this, but Les Mis is my core/default fandom setting. I first saw it when I was five. I listened to the soundtrack (on tape!) all the time. My glow bugs were all Les Mis characters (and boy was I choked when my mom got rid of them without my knowledge!) Like, hardcore, dyed-in-the-wool Mizzie. I own the new movie, but the closest I've come to watching it (I saw it opening night in the theatre and they almost had to drag me out of there seriously I had a complete breakdown) is to take the plastic off. I had the entire counterpoint memorized (I usually sang Valjean's part, and let me tell you, it sucks. Seriously. It has no melody. It's just shouting. Javert's has some actual notes and things.) I own a beautiful copy of The Brick that my ex (the same one who made me sing Valjean's part while she sang Javert's) carried around in her backpack until it was all tattered and eight years on I'm totally not still bitter. *ahem*

(In case anyone wants to know: I ship the fuck out of Javert/Valjean, and I'm most obsessed with Les Amis. I ship Enjolras/Grantaire even though I think it's a terrible relationship for both of them, but it's hot as hell and sooooooooooooo canon)

Yay Productivity!

Today:

- 6+ hours of "real" work
- 5+ hours of author work (none of which, by the way, was writing a single word for a WIP, ack!)
- my wife is asleep. This is bad. She hasn't eaten or practiced cello yet
- my brain is totally fried
- number of Goosebumps episodes watched...I don't even want to know

I Have an Almost Entirely Useless Magical Ability!

On the way back from my trip to the hot spring, I saw a coyote trotting by right beside the road. I was in the middle of a conversation, so I didn't interrupt to point it out. When the conversation reached a natural lull, I pointed out the window and said, "Hey, did you guys see that coyote a minute ago?" Everyone in the car kind of looked at me funny. I moved my finger and there was a coyote exactly where I'd been pointing! I had to explain that I had been talking about a different coyote, and I spent the rest of the trip filling people's cars with coyotes using only the power of my mind.

(Also! I'm being proactive and starting to pre-write some of my A-Z Challenge posts.)

Today’s question: what kinky activity could you not live without?

See Ya!

I'm off to a hot spring for the weekend!

I plan to come as close as humanly possible to dissolving in the water. And sweating all the cupcake out of my pores.

My current mission: to relocate/hide as many things the cats can destroy, puke or poop on for retaliation. A side benefit of this mission is that it's a lot like cleaning up!

As I finished up the packing, and I thought, "Whoops, I didn't pack any kinky things!" Because my wife's coworkers, who we're sharing the hotel room with, would totally appreciate that. *facepalm*

If I hurry up, I might even get in a few minutes of writing...though at this point it may be too late.

It’s BDSMonday!

Today’s question:

What are your thoughts about the use of titles outside of a relationship?

For example, a top/dominant who wishes to be called Sir/Ma’am (etc.) by all the bottoms/submissives present, not just their own.

Do you think it’s appropriate at a play party?

At a munch?

Never?

I’d love to hear your thoughts!

Roses & Chains: Facebook's War Against BDSM

Roses & Chains: Facebook's War Against BDSM: First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out-- Because I was not a Socialist.   Then they came for the Trade Unioni...

Yay for Horse Time!

I got to see my horse today!

Because I don't have a car, I've been getting rides with my aunt, but usually only once a month to pay board...which is better than nothing, but still sucks.

Lately I've been doing a lot of new things with my horse--mounting, trying on a bridle, even my riding helmet--and not spending a lot of time just hanging out with her like I used to.

I felt really shitty about that after the last time I saw her, so I resolved that the next visit would (mostly) just be cuddles. I did try on a bridle--the one I bought was too small for my Shire mare'a massive head. I bought some dog collars to lengthen it, but it still doesn't really fit so I'll probably have to get an actual draft bridle...

My wife wasn't feeling well and didn't come out, so I couldn't ride even if I had planned to (we're still at the stage of her just leading our horse around with me on her back).

I'm feeling a lot better, both because I saw my horse and because I worked on our bond today instead of just showing up and trying to hop on her back.

I think I'm going to try and make cinnamon buns...

It’s BDSMonday!

Today’s tip: BDSM checklists are a great way to explore your (and your partner’s) interests, and maybe discover a few new ideas! It’s also neat to return to the checklist periodically and see what’s changed since you first completed it.

Of Course I'm Innocent...

While at work, a guy apologized for hitting me with a cable. When I told him he'd missed me, another guy was like, "You got me!"

To which the first guy replied, "Yeah, but you liked it. I know your type. I'll get the ball gag later."

Through this whole exchange, I was like...do-do-do... *innocent whistling*

It’s BDSMonday!

Today’s anecdote:
We have no idea why, but whenever my wife does any percussion play on me, our girl cat has to yowl at us after each strike…(Our boy cat is very protective of me. For the first few months after we got him, whenever my wife and I would play, he would stare at us very intently, like, “Is she hurting you? I can call 911. Just give me a signal.”)

BDSMonday!

It’s BDSMonday!

Because it’s also Saint Patrick’s Day, today’s question is alcohol-related. We all (hopefully!) know that BDSM and alcohol/drugs shouldn’t mix, but are there ever any exceptions?

Two personal examples: When I was first starting out with BDSM, my first play partner and I had some wine with dinner and played later that evening, after waiting long enough to make sure we weren’t too intoxicated.

I’ve also done several scenes that involved alcohol, for example, forced drinking. They weren’t really intense scenes, but they were still definitely play.

(Note: in both cases I knew and trusted the people I was playing with,  and they were familiar enough with my behaviour while playing to know if something was wrong)

It’s BDSMonday!

Today’s thought:

Safewords aren’t just for subs/bottoms/(etc. For the sake of brevity, I’m going to call them bottoms. Insert your word of choice). We (hopefully!) all know why subs need safewords: they can have a triggering moment during a scene, have a muscle cramp or some other discomfort, or any other reason they might need to pause or stop a scene.

What some people forget is that any of those things can happen to (tops). And a top needing to end a scene is, and should be, just as valid as a bottom. Tops, take the same advice you give your bottoms: if you need to, use your safeword!

Saturday 15 March 2014

Watching The Hobbit. Again. I don't even know how many times it's been, though it kind of makes me want to apologize to my first girlfriend for thinking she was nuts for watching LotR so many times.

Animal Day

While at the zoo today, I found an eagle feather and saw a white Beefalo, both of which were really special for me--while I'm not (as far as I know) Native, I live in an area with a high Native population.

Other highlights:

- two bobcats grooming each other
- bats!
- foxes!
- lots of terrible puns

Also went to the pet store to get crickets for the salamanders and pinkies for the snake...that particular pet store only sold pinkies in four-packs, which was kind of odd and annoying. The boxes of feeder mice and rats all had pictures of their contents for some reason...kind of creepy. I've had a garter snake for about five years, so feeding pinkies doesn't bother me too much, but I don't really want a picture of live mice on a box full of dead ones!

Today’s question:

What are your favourite kinky books, fiction or nonfiction?(For me, the fiction is the Claiming of Sleeping Beauty series. It has issues, sure, but it’s also really hot. I do not recommend reading it, say, in your best friend’s house when you have no one to play with. Just…no. The nonfiction is also more than one book, The New Topping Book and The New Bottoming Book.)

New Blog!

So, while I love Tumblr, it's not great when it comes to connecting with people (I can't reply to comments without reblogging the post? It's ridiculous!) So, here I am for my grand return to Blogger! (Though it's the first Blogger I've had for Author Me).

I don't have any new posts lined up, but I thought I'd start off with some previous BDSMonday topics. I'll stagger them so they don't all hit at once and I have a few posts lined up.

Have a great weekend everyone! I hope it's sunny and warm where you are.
