Edward's growing powers carry a deeper mystery when he learns why he has them to begin with and what helps keep his bond with Kit. One part romance, one part "Supernatural" and maybe a dash of "Scooby Doo", this book will keep you guessing as to what will happen to Edward and Kit. (link to review)

Five Star Review for My Zombie Boyfriend

I just had to share this review from Laura at Amo's Book Corner. (Note: review contains a few minor spoilers): 

"This book took me completely by surprise. I loved this quirky story; it was the perfect mix of comedy, horror, m/m and paranormal romance all rolled into one.

Medical student by day and necromancer by night; Edward Grey leads a very insular existence. Attending classes during the day, weekly dinners with his parents and harnessing his powers with the assistance of his mentor, Mariel, in the evenings. His social circle is very limited with only Boo, his cat and first Zombie, as his constant companion. He’d rather have his nose in a book or be doing experiments in his basement.

On the way home from Mariel’s one night he comes across the fresh corpse of an attractive young male around his age and his power calls him to raise the man from the dead. And if he happens to ring Edward’s bell…..well that’s neither here nor there ;)

After his hilarious escapades getting the corpse home, Edward does just that. Only things don’t go as Edward expected; this is no brainless Zombie. This Zombie can talk and think for himself but has no memory of who he once was.

Edward christens him Kit, and the beginnings of a tentative friendship are forged. Kit has a flair for

fashion and design and proves to be just the tonic Edward needs. Kit goes about making the most of his undead life; getting a job, revamping not just Edward’s house but his wardrobe as well. The boy loves to shop! 

Edward’s attraction to Kit only grows as they get to know one another. His feelings become *coughs* harder to hide with hilarious consequences:

“He was certainly distressing my jeans and I hoped he wouldn’t notice.”

The smexy scenes are both heartfelt and intimate, but laugh out funny and squeamish at the same time!! Just as the two are settling into a burgeoning relationship, Kit’s memories return. What does this mean for them both with Kit hell-bent on revenge?!?!

There is a host of colourful characters including Edward’s mentor, Mariel and his eccentric parents who take everything in their stride. A Zombie cat with knack for losing body parts – thank heavens for a needle and thread!

I honestly can’t recommend this book more and I’m just ashamed to admit this is the first work I’ve read by this author. I loved the writing style and flow of the book. I eagerly look forward to reading more in the series.

Review: London Steam by Lynn Townsend

This book has pretty much got me covered:

Light BDSM: check (I wasn't expecting any, so I was pleasantly surprised!)
Paranormal: check
Urban fantasy: check
Historical romance: check

Vampires and werewolves have gotten a little passé lately, but Lynn Townsend's monstrous characters, while clearly recognizable by their respective lore, are fresh and vibrant.

All characters, human or no, are well fleshed-out, and the romance is intense but believable.

Definitely worth reading!

Review - Seti's Heart by Kiernan Kelly

Okay, I have to admit to a pre-existing bias: I’m kind of an Ancient Egypt nut. Combine that with M/M and you can pretty much guarantee I’ll read it. That being said, this book was well worth reading! It’s the perfect blend of well-written sex and romance, and good, old fashioned adventure. It reminded me a lot of Anne Rice’s The Mummy—but better, because both the main character and the love interest were men! I loved how possessive Seti was, and I think Kiernan did an excellent job of describing his reactions to waking in the 21^st century. I will definitely be reading more by this author. 

Kiernan has several free reads available: Counting Down and the F.B. and Matt Collection.

Review - A Marked Man by Lynn Townsend

I was hooked on this book from the first line. I’m not a big fantasy reader, but A Marked Man is the kind I enjoy—fantasy elements backed up by solid historical research, well-rounded characters and excellent writing. The main character, Mace, is just the sort of charming rogue I’ve always loved reading about—think Han Solo. Jewel/Catreen kicks ass. Lynn Townsend allows all of her characters, male and female, to show their weaknesses and emotions, making them relatable and sympathetic.

I found myself staring in horror at my Kindle as I watched the percent finished at the bottom. When it got to 99%, I couldn’t believe the book was over and I wanted more!

There were a few passages where I wasn’t sure if the events were currently taking place or were in the past. Part of that was deliberate I think, when Mace has the soul stone and is confused, but there were a couple of times further in that were unclear to me.

If you enjoy character-driven fantasy, a good adventure story, and very well written romance, you’ll love this book!

The Roommate Situation by Zoe X. Rider

Genre: M/M NA BDSM Romance

Blurb: College freshman Shane Hahn finds himself unexpectedly shuffled to a new dorm room--which is fine by him, but his over-involved mother takes one look at toothpick-chewing, motorcycle-riding Derek McClain, his new roommate, and gets on the phone with the school. The school requires that Shane be the one to file the room-change paperwork, but Shane's reluctant.

He's attracted to Derek's independence, even though that independence means Derek has to pay his own way through college, which he does by making leather products (you know: belts, wallets...bondage gear) and selling it online. Shane isn't even allowed to work while he's in school, much less join a band, which is what he really wants to do with his life. Unfortunately, his parents are holding his guitar hostage until he can prove he's taking his future seriously.

When he decides he needs a way to come up with cash--the kind his parents won't find out about--so he can buy a guitar his parents can't take away from him, he turns to Derek with what sounds like a win-win solution: he'll model bondage gear for Derek's online store photos, Derek will get more sales, and Shane will get a cut. The one thing he doesn't factor into his plan is the giddy stomach-flip feeling Derek McClain causes whenever he walks in the room--and what that might mean for them when Derek starts locking leather cuffs on his wrists.

Review: I've been curious about NA BDSM for a while, and this book seemed like the perfect way to get my feet wet. Wow, am I glad I went with this one!

Both main characters were very likeable and interesting. There were a few times that I caught myself scowling inwardly at Shane for being ungrateful when his parents are paying for his entire education, but I kept reminding myself that people can be abusive and still give you lots of things.

The sex and kink were very hot and enjoyable to read. I really liked the tentative, natural way Shane and Derek got into bondage and sex with one another.

I'm not a big fan of books written in the present tense, but that's really a personal thing, not anything negative about the writing. The story moves along at a nice, steady pace.

It ended at a good (and at least moderately happy) place, though it did leave me wanting more. I'll definitely be reading more by this author!

Review: Locking Horns by Kay Berrisford

4 1/2 stars. 

I won this book, and I was thrilled! It sounded really interesting and I wasn't disappointed. The mythology of the story is comfortable and familiar without seeming stale. 

I really enjoyed Herne and Tam's relationship (not just the naughty parts--but those are HOT!) Their worries and concerns about each other are very realistic and well-explored, with a satisfying resolution. 

A lovely blend of fantasy, romance and erotica, with just enough kink to make me perk up and have my mind spiralling off in interesting directions. 

I can't wait to read the others in this series (after which, I'll probably track down more of Kay's writing). 

I loved the use of antlers in the story...I might be a sucker for men with (eroticised) antlers...
