My Zombie Fiancé Countdown - Day 3 - Excerpt

Whoo hoo, we're on the home stretch now!

To celebrate, how about an excerpt from My Zombie Fiancé?

First, if you haven't read it yet, here's the blurb: Edward Grey is no stranger to the undead; since raising his cat as a zombie when he was a child, he and his mentor Mariel have explored and developed his power as a necromancer. Despite everything he’s learned, as a necromancer and a medical student, he’s never encountered a ghost.

While Mariel is unreachable in Haiti on mysterious business, a ghost wakes Edward in the middle of the night, claiming to be his grandfather. When the ghost offers to teach him about this different form of undeath, Edward has little choice but to trust the spirit.

After receiving a phone call from a young girl claiming her father is possessed, Edward and his Undead Canadian fiancé, Kit, must travel to an acreage in Kingston…Ontario.

The haunting proves far more complicated than Edward could ever have guessed, and he finds himself pitted against an ancient evil determined to engulf everyone on the farm.

Edward’s love and connection to Kit will be tested, and his necromancy stretched to his limits as he has to find—and destroy—a twisted spirit more powerful than anything he’s ever encountered.

BDSMonday - Lock and Key Cover Reveal

It's BDSMonday!

Today, as promised last week, is a very special BDSMonday. I'm very pleased to present the cover for my upcoming M/M BDSM romance, Lock and Key. It's the sequel to Boots and Leather (and it includes Boots and Leather, for those who haven't read it). I haven't had a kinky story out since Night Out, and it feels great to have a new one on the way. Since I wrote Boots and Leather, I knew I wanted to explore more of Gavin and Terry's relationship, and I'm thrilled to share more of their story with you.

Blurb: After meeting Terry at a motorcycle show, Gavin is sure he’s found the man of his dreams. While he’s fantasized about BDSM for years, Gavin has never had a play partner and Terry is happy to teach him. After playing together for a few months, Terry has to leave on a business trip. Terry gives Gavin the key to his apartment so Gavin can sleep in, but Gavin isn’t sure he’s ready for that level of commitment. While he likes and trusts Terry—and loves the kinky sex they have together—Gavin has to decide which he can’t give up: Terry, or his freedom. Part one was originally published as Boots and Leather by Torquere Press.

Excerpt: Weighed down by groceries and a bulging duffle bag, I rang Terry’s doorbell.

“It’s open!” he called.

I left the bag in the entryway so he wouldn’t see it and brought the groceries to the kitchen. He was wearing jeans, an apron and nothing else, and he was sexy as hell. I wanted him to ravish me, right there, right then, but he was busily stirring and chopping and other mysterious kitchen pursuits—I’m not much of a cook.

“Don’t come into the bedroom.” I kissed his shoulder.

“Sure.” He gave my butt a quick pat before turning back to his frying pan.

Making sure he wasn’t watching, I carried the heavy bag down the hall to Terry’s bedroom and started unpacking my goodies.

I’ve known I was interested in BDSM for a long time, though I’d never had a play partner of my very own before Terry. Every now and then I’d see something in an adult store or on a website that I just had to buy, for private use or the hope that I would eventually find a top to play with. “Every now and then” adds up over the years, and soon the bag wouldn’t be big enough to hold everything.
I laid it all out on the bed so I could see everything and try to narrow down exactly what I wanted to do with Terry—or rather, have him do to me. As I pulled out each toy, I remembered the fantasy that had made me buy it.

Terry and I haven’t discussed roleplaying yet, and I was still too shy to mention it, and worried he’d think I was immature for wanting to play “let’s pretend”.

Simple was probably best. A scene that took too long to set up could use up all our energy before we’d actually played. I tossed almost everything back in the bag, except for my matching set of black leather wrist and ankle cuffs, and what had quickly become my favorite toy. It was a jockey bat; similar to a riding crop, but the leather tip was hard instead of flappy. Terry has used it in all sorts of ways—using it the way it was intended, flipping it around to hit me with the handle, striking my thighs or ass with the shaft like a cane, even holding it across the backs of my knees to pin me down.
“I’m ready,” I called.

“Me too. We’d better eat first, or we might not get around to it.”

I was restless. I wanted to play now, but I knew he was right. If we played, we probably wouldn’t leave the bed until morning, and the dinner he’d cooked would go to waste. With a final glance at the toys neatly arranged on the bed, I sauntered out to meet him.

“Are you sure you didn’t own a restaurant in a past life?” I asked, bumping him with my hip while I grabbed a plate. I thought about serving him, but we hadn’t discussed that level of D/s yet, so I only got food for myself.

“I’d go crazy in a restaurant, surrounded by people, everyone in a hurry. I couldn’t even do your job.” He was used to being his own boss; if he felt like working fourteen hours one day, he did. If he wanted to ride to the coast for the weekend, there was no one to stop him but his own deadlines.

***

I don't have a buy link yet, but be on the lookout for Lock and Key from Torquere Press on April 29th!

My Zombie Boyfriend Cover Reveal

Title: My Zombie Boyfriend
Author: T. Strange
Publisher: Torquere Press
Length: 64, 000 words (Novel)
Genres: Romance, Paranormal, Contemporary, M/M
Release Date: April 15th, 2015

My Zombie Boyfriend

Blurb: Edward Grey is a medical student by day, necromancer by night. He lives alone with the first zombie he ever raised, his childhood cat, Boo. Edward’s life is simple: studying medicine, training his necromantic powers with his mentor, Mariel, and having weekly dinners with his parents. When he finds a very attractive corpse in a park and brings it home to reanimate, he creates a sassy, free-willed zombie who believes Edward is the one who murdered him.

With no memory of his former life, Edward names the zombie Kit and tries to win his trust. Kit slowly adjusts to his new un-life with Edward’s help, though he’s still suspicious of Edward’s role in his death and is convinced that Edward is hiding his former identity. Edward is very attracted to Kit, but understands why Kit doesn’t trust him. As they become closer to one another, Kit turns to Edward for comfort and love. The fragile trust they’ve built together will be tested when Kit unexpectedly regains his memory and seeks revenge on his murderers.

Excerpt: Shopping with Kit was a nightmare.
I expect my clothes to cover publicly unacceptable bits, keep me warm, and protect me from the environment. That’s about all I require of them.
No. Kit was into Fashion. With a capital F. He looked at racks of shirts that, color aside, all seemed identical to me. He kept staring at the labels.
I got more than a little impatient. It had been a long day. Not to mention my long night raising the temperamental dead. “Kit,” I groaned, “money is not an issue. Just pick whatever you want and I’ll buy it for you. I literally do not care how much it costs.”
Kit’s mouth fell open in a perfect, sexy ‘O’ of exaggerated horror. “You think I’m looking at the prices? Oh, Edward. That’s so cute.”
He thought I was cute? I knew he was teasing me, but I still liked hearing him say it.
My headache was back. This seemed to be a trend with Kit around. If he wasn’t looking at the prices, what was taking him so long? I took a deep, soothing breath. On the plus side, Kit had obviously relaxed since being out in public. I had heard of retail therapy but never before witnessed its effect. He was practically glowing as he chattered on about the relative merits of this and that brand, designer and logo. It was a soothing wash of words that meant absolutely nothing to me, so I nodded, smiled, and tried not to focus on how pretty his mouth was, the way his hands seemed to hang in the air when he spoke, how amazing his hair looked even in the terrible mall lighting.
It was a good thing he was so pretty, or I probably would have killed him and left. It would be so easy, too. One word and he would collapse, his reanimated essence disappearing while I walked out of the store and back into my nice, normal medical student/necromancer life.
“Hello? Earth to Edward. I’m ready.” He thrust a very large bundle of clothes into my arms and stood there, all but tapping his foot. He smiled and said, “Oh, yes. We still have to get shoes.”

About the Author: My Zombie Boyfriend is T. Strange’s first full-length novel, though she has published several shorter works with Torquere Press. When not writing, T. enjoys gardening, spending time with her horse, and, of course, reading. T. lives in Canada with her wife, surrounded by pets.

My Zombie Boyfriend - Valentine's Day Excerpt

It's Valentine's Day!

I wasn't sure what to get you, so here's an excerpt from My Zombie Boyfriend. For those of you just tuning in, My Zombie Boyfriend is about Edward, a medical student/necromancer, and his zombie, Kit. You can read more about it here.

This scene takes place soon after Edward and Kit  have sex for the first time. Bone is Edward's ex-boyfriend.

---

Valentine’s Day.

I had thought about buying Kit a box of chocolates. A teddy bear holding a heart. A dozen roses. A diamond.

I did none of those things.

Reminders of What Had Happened Between Us were suddenly everywhere, in the hearts and cupids decorating every surface. I felt as though, wherever I went, people knew Kit and I had slept together and were silently congratulating or judging me. Kit introduced me to a few of his classmates-cum-friends, and to my surprise, I liked them.

I hoped they liked me, too, and I waited for that infernal day to end so Kit and I could get back to the comfortable awkwardness we had been living in since our night together.

My concentration in class suddenly tripled. I hadn’t realized how much I had been coasting since I had found Kit, or how much I had missed my professors’ praise. I felt like I was coming out of hibernation and seeing spring happening all around me, and it was corny as hell.

I didn’t care.

When we got home, Bone was standing on the sidewalk in front of my house, smoking and leering at pedestrians and drivers as they passed.

I hurried him inside before he raised too many questions from my neighbors.

“Bone, what a pleasant surprise. Would you care for a drink?”

“Brandy, if you’ve got it. In coffee.” His voice was harsh with cold and smoke.

I wrinkled my nose. The fact that he was a smoker might have played a part in our separation. Health issues aside, I can’t stand the smell. “Just the coffee.”

He shrugged, as if to say, it didn’t matter to him one way or the other.

Kit was staring at Bone, warily. He had only met Bone once before, and under rather trying circumstances.

“Ah, Kit, you remember Bone. Bone, Kit.” That just sounded peculiar.

I was happy to have the distraction of making coffee, so I could turn my back on them for a moment and try to figure out why Bone was here.

“Yeah, sure. That hospital guy, right?”

“That’s partially why I’m here. So I’ll be more than “that hospital guy” to you.” Bone produced a rose and held it out to Kit, smirking. “I asked Edward if I could borrow you, and he told me to ask you. So here I am. Asking.”

Borrow?” Kit was so outraged, he could hardly get the word out. He shot Bone a nasty look, then turned it on me.

I held up my hands to show my innocence, and Kit and I had a brief, silent conversation. I told him no, of course!

You should have told me!

I didn’t think it would come up, or that you’d want to know…

I wasn’t at all surprised that Bone had such a…fascination…with Kit. Bone is heavily into death, and about the only sexual partner more death-related than a necromancer is a zombie. Still. That was no excuse for him to upset Kit, especially on Valentine’s Day. When we might, just possibly, have a thing. Whatever that thing might be.

“Bone, we’re kind of…ah…this is sort of a bad time.” I passed him a mug of steaming coffee.
He drank some. This is one of the reasons I’m convinced he’s not entirely human—no human could drink coffee that hot and still look as though butter wouldn’t melt in his mouth. “I can come back.”
“Not really the point. I mean, it’d be great to have you over sometime. We could watch a movie or play video games or something.”

And Kit could be conveniently absent. Though I would probably tell him to leave earlier and stay out later than when Bone was expected to be around.

“Here, why don’t I put that in a travel mug for you?” I snatched the coffee out of Bone’s hands, pouring it into a thermos for him. “You can keep that. I’ll call you. This is a bad time; did I say that already?” I drove him toward the door, opened it, and ejected him. Closing the door behind him, I leaned against it, letting myself slide down until I was sitting on the floor. I felt astonishingly rude, but he was gone, and Bone isn’t the type to take offence about social niceties, or the lack thereof. I would call him later, if he didn’t call me first. I was sure he knew Kit and I were now sleeping together and would feel the need to bother me about it. Which seemed like fair payment for throwing him out like that.

“Kit?” I asked, from the floor. He was wearing a pair of shoes I’d never seen before, which didn’t surprise me. They were grey leather and looked very good on him.

“Mmm?” He leaned on the counter and peered down at me.

“I like your shoes.”

“Thank you, Edward!” He sounded genuinely touched.

“Do you want to go out for dinner?”

“Tonight?”

“Yeah.”

“Valentine’s Day dinner? Like, a date?”

I shrugged, trying to copy Bone’s laissez-faire gesture and probably failing.

“Yeah, all right. If you think we’ll be able to find a place that isn’t packed.”

“I don’t care if we go to McDonald’s.”

“I’ll get my coat.”

Cover Reveal - Acquiesce by Cory Cyr

Coming: December 30, 2014
****18+ due to adult language and explicit sexual content*****

Caspian Vance~former child prodigy, now an accomplished professor of human sexuality at twenty-six has it all—an IQ that's off the charts, a stellar career at which he excels, and the drop-dead looks and body that make women spontaneously combust with lust.

He's been studying sex and women's behavior since he was sixteen. When it comes to the science of human lust and the rewards of sexual pursuits, he has all the answers.

There's one thing he knows for sure: "love" has nothing to do with it.
Sex is a basic, primal human need—love is an unstable, emotional complication. Both are present in a person, but completely unrelated. His own world of logic and fact accepts this truth and now. . .

He's going to prove it.

When Cass takes a sabbatical to research his theory in order to write his third book, he enlists the help of a former lover and now owner of the world's most exotic and secretive male brothel catering strictly to wealthy older women. On this remote Caribbean island, he uses his keen sense of observation and research to prove "love" is merely a series of chemical reactions in the human brain—nothing more.

Nicola Barrington~ had the perfect life, married to her soul mate.Ten years into her one and only relationship, her idyllic world is shattered by the death of her beloved husband. The loss of her "one true love" sends her into seclusion where she spends the next eleven years pining for the man she still loves.

The beautiful heiress, stays hidden away, her only connection to the outside world being being the hired help and her two close friends. Her friends know Nic has much to live for and are eager to see her find love again. . . and if not love, they would settle for her rediscovering the throes of lust.

As her 40th birthday approaches, her two friends succeed in coaxing her out of her emotionally safe haven to celebrate with a trip to an exclusive resort known for "restoring an older woman's brilliant, inner glow."

Caspian’s superiority and logic combined with Nic's innocence and melancholy are on an imminent collision course. Sometimes even a genius has a hard time figuring out a woman.

My Zombie Boyfriend - Halloween Excerpt #2

Hi everyone! We're so close to Halloween I can smell it! I was going to rake leaves today, but it's really gross and wet out so I'll have to celebrate fall in a different way...so, please enjoy the second Halloween excerpt from My Zombie Boyfriend.

My Zombie Boyfriend is told from Edward's perspective. Edward is your typical medical student/necromancer. Kit is his sassy, sarcastic zombie, and Boo is Edward's undead cat. (Side note: Kit really hates the 'Z' word or any reference to stereotypical zombie things like eating brains...this is one of the few times in the book Kit acknowledges zombies exist, never mind that he is one!)

My Zombie Boyfriend - Halloween Excerpt #1

Here's My Zombie Boyfriend's third excerpt! It's October and it's a book about zombies, so of course it's Halloween themed, and there will be more throughout the month.

Halloween is Edward's favourite holiday, and he fully realizes how cliched that is.

For those of you who just tuned in: Edward is your typical medical student/necromancer. Kit is the body he found and reanimated as a zombie. (Mariel is just mentioned in this segment, but she's Edward's mentor).

Please note: this is not the finalized, fully edited version of the story. Some changes will occur between now and printing.

You can read more about My Zombie Boyfriend and find other excerpts here.

Amber...Teaser?

Does it still count as a teaser if I make it months after the story was published?

Anyway, I made this teaser for Amber. (I realize that it looks terrible because of the sidebar of my blog, and I'm sorry!)

This section is one of my favourite interactions between Teague (sentence one and three) and Anthony. Even after dealing with an abusive ex and the madness of being a popular musician, Teague is still the poster boy for Glass Half Full.

Anthony, on the other hand, is The Glass Is Empty And Broken And It Just Cut My Hand And I'm Bleeding And I Can't Tell What Colour My Blood is.

Neither of them can fully understand the other's perspective. They have a connection, but it's not their outlook on life--at least not at this point in the story.

Great Day... And a My Zombie Boyfriend Teaser!

I'm having a really good day. I had an issue at work, but I managed to figure it out (mostly) on my own and it felt great.

Then I got my hair braided which I desperately wanted so it wouldn't be in my face or on my neck. And the hairdresser was amazing. Hands down the best I've ever had. She realized how "difficult" my hair is while she was washing it (side note--I love having my hair washed at the hairdresser's. So does Kit from My Zombie Boyfriend...see below!). My hair is very fine but dense, making it pretty unmanageable...it sheds lesser hair implements! I told her I was growing it out for my sister's wedding and she gave me some very helpful tips to tell the wedding stylist, and she explained why I have a random red streak in my hair. Now it's in a really tight French braid and it's almost like having short hair again and I look more like my mental image of myself!

Anyway...

Here's teaser number two from My Zombie Boyfriend. (Here's teaser number one in case you missed it).

For those just tuning in, My Zombie Boyfriend is my upcoming M/M paranormal romance novel with Torquere Press. It's about Edward, a necromancer/medical student, and Kit, a body he finds and reanimates.

Please note, this is not the finalized version of the story.

Here it is, My Zombie Boyfriend's first teaser!
